Internal Inconsistency: How Islam Undermines Its Own Claims of Scriptural Integrity
Part 5
Introduction: The Qur'an’s Challenge of Consistency
After four articles dismantling the Qur'an’s treatment of the Injil, the fabrication of the tahrif doctrine, and Islam’s selective use of Christian scripture, it’s time to zero in on one fatal flaw that undergirds them all:
"Do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? Had it been from other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction." (Qur'an 4:82)
This verse is meant to be a defense of the Qur'an's divine origin. Ironically, it becomes an indictment, as contradictions between the Qur'an, the Injil, and Islamic theology pile up with no resolution in sight.
1. Qur'an Affirms the Gospel, But Islam Condemns It As we’ve seen:
Qur'an 5:47 tells Christians to judge by the Gospel.
Qur'an 5:46 calls the Gospel “guidance and light.”
Qur'an 10:94 tells Muhammad to consult the People of the Book.
Yet modern Islam teaches that the Gospel was corrupted beyond recognition. Contradiction #1: Why affirm a book and then nullify its legitimacy later?
2. Qur'an Confirms Previous Scriptures, But Muslims Say They Were Corrupted The Qur'an says:
"It is He Who sent down the Book to you [Muhammad] in truth, confirming what came before it." (3:3)
But if the previous books were corrupted, how does the Qur'an "confirm" them? Contradiction #2: You can’t confirm something that no longer exists.
3. Allah’s Word is Inviolable, But Apparently Not The Qur'an repeatedly claims:
"There is none who can change the words of Allah." (6:115, 18:27)
If the Injil was Allah’s word (as the Qur'an plainly states), then it cannot be changed. Yet Muslims argue it was changed. Contradiction #3: Either Allah’s word is corruptible, or the Injil remains intact. Both cannot be true.
4. Islam Accuses Christians of Polytheism, While Affirming Their Scriptures
Qur'an 5:72-73 condemns the Trinity.
Qur'an 9:30 accuses Christians of shirk.
But if the Injil is trustworthy (per 5:47), and it teaches Jesus is divine (which it does), then the Qur'an contradicts its own standard of affirmation. Contradiction #4: Either the Gospel is guidance, or it’s blasphemy. Which is it?
5. The Qur'an Invites Christians to Islam, But Also Says They’re Already Guided
Qur'an 2:62 says Christians can have salvation.
Qur'an 5:48 praises different revelations as each having their own "way and method."
So are Christians already rightly guided, or do they need to abandon their faith for Islam? Contradiction #5: If other religions offer salvation, Islam isn’t necessary. If Islam is necessary, the others are false.
Conclusion: When Your Book Condemns Itself Surah 4:82 was meant to silence critics. Instead, it lights the match under the Qur’an’s own contradictions.
Islam can’t:
Affirm the Injil while denying its theology.
Claim Allah’s word is unchangeable while insisting it was changed.
Call previous revelations divine, then label them corrupted.
Each attempt to resolve these contradictions only adds new ones. That’s not the hallmark of divine authorship. It’s a textbook case of doctrinal patchwork.
The Qur’an’s inconsistencies aren’t proof of divine revelation. They’re evidence of human error trying to cover its own tracks.
Strike five. Islam is intellectually bankrupt.
